Chun Shi: A Clinic Unlike Any Other

Art Gallery-Inspired Medical Beauty Clinic by Feng Guoqiang and Chen Yan

The designers' innovative approach to the project was driven by their desire to create a "clinic unlike a clinic". The result is a space that exudes an art gallery's temperament, where guests can experience elegant beauty and a relaxed atmosphere, a stark contrast to the often stressful clinical environments. The reception desk and self-service drink table, for example, are designed to double as a buffet table during events, reminiscent of art exhibition openings.

The uniqueness of Chun Shi lies in its design philosophy and realization. The original facade of the building, made of irregular colored glass, was transformed using an environmentally friendly method of sticking white outdoor advertising film. This simple yet effective solution not only met the owner's request to maintain the original structure but also allowed for easy restoration in the future. The interior floor, made of bright white resin material, enhances the reflection of light, reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day.

Spanning an area of 500 square meters, the clinic is partitioned into various areas including the reception, treatment, and service areas. Each area is self-contained yet interconnected, allowing for the smooth flow of both customers and staff. The designers also added a canopy at the entranceway and an infinity edge pool that visually connects with the lake, reflecting the architecture and daylight, and attracting guests.

Chun Shi's design journey began in December 2017 and was completed in November 2018. Despite the challenges posed by the building's original facade, the designers' creative and technical prowess led to a solution that was not only simple and easy to construct but also environmentally friendly. This innovative approach to design has earned Chun Shi the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019, a testament to the designers' remarkable expertise and innovation.

The design concept behind Chun Shi is a testament to the power of reimagining traditional spaces. By drawing inspiration from art galleries, Feng Guoqiang and Chen Yan have created a medical beauty clinic that not only serves its purpose but also provides a unique and relaxing experience for its guests.
